NASA'S Orion Spacecraft Visits Museum of Natural Science, Jackson, Mississippi - August 13, 2009
A full scale mockup of NASA's Orion crew exploration vehicle was moved from Florida to Texas to continue its testing. During the trip it made several stops for public viewing. The mockup is used in tests to study the environment for astronauts and recovery crews after an Orion ocean splashdown.
USS Haise crew member, Scott Crawford, went to the viewing when it stopped in Jackson.

Crew members brought an extraordinary amount of food donations to this month's meeting for our community serivce project: The Community Stewpot's Christmas in July Food Pantry Drive. Eight boxes were filled with much needed items for Stewpot. Crew member, Mark Young, volunteered to deliver these generous donations for the club.

Fred Haise was in town June 2, 2009, and invited members of the USS Haise to join him for lunch.
Shown in picture below are members who did attend.
We met him for lunch at La Cazuela Mexican Grill on Fortification Street in Jackson, MS.
We all had a wonderful time!

On July 24, 2008, USS Haise Crew Member, Scott Crawford, was presented the Champion of the People Award for 2008, at a reception held at Saint Andrews Episcopal Cathedral, Jackson, Mississippi for his advocacy work on public transportation for people with disabilities.The inscription reads “2008 SPIRIT OF THE ADA AWARD” and is in recognition and appreciation of his outstanding advocacy in bringing awareness to barriers in the community facing Mississippians with disabilities.

Mary Troupe, Chief Executive Officer for the Mississippi Coalition for Citizens with Disabilities, presented the award to Scott.
